Professor Dr. Atta ur Rehman has been awarded the ‘China International Science and Technology Cooperation Award’ which is the highest scientific award of China . The award will be presented to him at the Great Peoples Hall in Beijing on the 7th January, 2020. According to the Pakistani Embassy in China, this award is being bestowed upon him for his distinguished work in the field of chemistry. This award was previously held by other leading scientists such as Dr. Carlo Rubbia and Dr. Zhores I Alferov.
Previously, Dr. Atta ur Rehman has also been a recipient of the Tamgha-i-Imtiaz, the Hilal-i-Imtiaz, and the Nishan-i-Imtiaz.
Prof. Dr. Atta ur Rehman has published 1250 research papers, and books, internationally. Out of respect for his achievements and his brilliance, China and Malaysia recently set up scientific research centres in his name in their respective countries.
