Apple iPhone 17 Air Rumors: Slimmest iPhone Yet Could Replace the Plus Model

As Apple’s September 2025 event approaches, buzz is growing around a super-thin iPhone 17 Air, rumored to replace the iPhone Plus model. Reports suggest the device could be just 5.5mm thick — far slimmer than the iPhone 16 Pro’s 8.25mm — and weigh around 145g, making it one of the lightest full-sized iPhones ever.

Expected to feature a 6.6-inch display, the iPhone 17 Air would sit between the iPhone 16 Pro (6.3-inch) and the 16 Plus (6.7-inch). However, slimming down could mean a single rear wide-angle camera, with an upgraded 24MP selfie camera across all iPhone 17 models.

Performance rumors are split: some say it will get the A19 chip, while others claim the A19 Pro with a 5-core GPU. It’s also tipped to have 12GB RAM and a high-density 2,800mAh silicon-anode battery for better endurance, supported by iOS 26’s Adaptive Power feature.

Color options may include Black, Blue Gray, Light Gold, and Silver, along with ultra-thin bezels and a new Camera Control button. Pricing could start around $900, but tariffs and Apple’s rumored price hikes might push it above $1,100.

If Apple sticks to tradition, the iPhone 17 Air could debut at a September 3 or 9 event, with preorders opening that same week. Whether it’s called the “Air” or “Slim,” this could be Apple’s sleekest iPhone yet — but final details will only be confirmed on launch day.
