Fairy Meadows are famous for its beautiful landscapes, breathtaking scenery, and hospital people. One of the most famous tourist sites is the Shangrilla Resort. But recently, a disturbing issue has emerged in front of us, raised by the residents. According to them, the owner of Shangrilla Resort, Mr. Arif Aslam has forged the land purchase documents in the past and acquired land and forests illegally. In a public gathering at Nanga Parbat basecamp, the locals reported to Pamir Times that their forefathers worked very hard to get this land and they will not allow outsider mafia to come and invade their land.

Another issue raised by these local people was that Mr. Arif was involved in the deforestation of 4500 trees with the help of the Department of Forestry hence, making them the Timber Mafia too.

They invited Mr. Arif Aslam to their grand jirga to come and resolve the issue on legal grounds and try to avoid any kind of dispute which can harm the reputation of this serene land in the eyes of local and international tourists.

Youth of Fairy Meadows share their views about land dispute with Shangrila resort’s owner Arif Aslam Khan

Social Media jumped to the support of the locals, calling them innocent and asking the owner of Shangrilla Resort, Mr. Arif to give their land back and let the locals operate the hospitality business in the area.

On the other hand, Mr. Arif Aslam released a video in which he said that the road to these Fairy Meadows was made by his father and he brought the attention of people to this side of the country. He also said that everything he and his father did were legally covered and the claims of the local people were true to zero extents.

The residents requested the government to take this issue into notice and provide justice to the deserving.
