[Watch] Is child abuse rampant in Pakistan?

Poverty is considered to be one of the major causes of child sexual abuse in Pakistan as the children from unprivileged families get exposed to unregulated workplace culture and thus become vulnerable to be victimized, says Manizeh Bano, Executive Director, Sahil, while talking to Matrix Mag. Also, the culture of corporal punishment is considered to be a by-product of a punitive mindset that is in practice since long. Social awareness coupled with effective implementation of laws can help counter the menace of both child sexual abuse and corporal punishment, says Manizeh.
