US-China Strategic Rivalry: Is Pakistan caught in the crossfire?

Ashraf Jehangir Qazi, Former Ambassador of Pakistan to China, India, U.S., and Special Rep. of U.N Secretary-General to Iraq / Sudan, discussed Pakistan’s predicament as an ally of the U.S. and China and the challenges that come with it. He stated that despite Pakistan’s desire to maintain a balance between the two superpowers, the U.S. has made it clear that it has no interest in the matter. The U.S. shares a positive dynamic with Pakistan, however, despite Pakistan’s rivalry with India, it sees India as a key strategic ally. Similarly, China has not imposed any restrictions on Pakistan as long as it is not treated unfairly. Therefore, he asserted, Pakistan must continue maintaining its strategic alliance with its time-tested friend China despite the US-China’s growing conflict.
