The development of Pakistan accelerated during the tenure of the former Prime Minister Imran Khan. Every sector had improved and accomplished a remarkable change by benefiting Pakistan both domestically and internationally. Policies and statistics show a drastic change during Imran Khan Era.

If we looked back in time, we could proudly sum up the accomplishments of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who led ‘Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’ over the past four years, he helped the country in many ways to stand on its feet in the world with confidence and dignity. The former Premier Imran Khan was hope for the Pakistanis living all around the world. He made people realize their due rights and was liked by everyone. Despite some barriers and hurdles, the performance of Imran Khan was outstanding throughout his tenure. The PTI faced numerous challenges including poverty, financial instability, poor education, and health facilities, and top of the list is the Covid-19 pandemic, which has jolted Pakistan badly. PM Imran Khan tackled all the challenges smartly by taking timely actions. According to The Economist, Pakistan ranked the third-best performing country in handling the pandemic carefully through the strategy of smart lockdown. By analyzing the performance of Prime Minister Imran Khan, we would know that many indicators are showing the positive change in a country during his era. The developments had been made in the following sectors:

Social development is a basic factor to uplift the common man, the government initiated various projects that helped in poverty alleviation. Under the umbrella of the Ehsaas program, there were subprograms such as Ehsaas Kafaalat, which provided unlimited cash transfers to the millions of poor women, Ehsaas Undergraduate Scholarships, which awarded over 50,000 scholarships to the students from the backward background, and lastly, the Ehsaas Nashonuma, a cash transfer to elevate the condition of health and nutrition, Koi Bhooka Na Soye Program, Naya Pakistan Housing Program for accommodation to the poverty-stricken groups, Kisaan Card, Insaaf Sehat Card, Kamyab Jawan Program to enhance the skills of youth to help them get employed, One Nation-One Curriculum, Zaraat Say Khuraak Tak.

Similarly, the economy indicates the nation’s financial position and its ability to trade internationally. Pakistan has been under the grip of economic downfall adversely affecting the poor masses. In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic when economic recession was at its peak globally, the government’s achievements were remarkable. Some of the measures taken to boost the economic sector are Roshan Digital Account, about which data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) shows that the country received $307 million in July 2021 compared to $310m in June 2021 reflecting a trend with the inflow of over $300m per month, Electric Vehicle Policy, People-Friendly Budget, Increase in Exports, Decrease in Current Account Deficit, Growth in Textile Industry, and High Remittances.

The development in every sector of the country is crucial to make it strong enough to stand on international fora. The policies of the former Prime Minister Imran Khan brought a drastic change in the development sector of Pakistan. Projects like the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a flagship project successfully give employment opportunities to the Pakistani unemployed population. The International Labor Organisation (ILO) had estimated that CPEC could create 400,000 jobs in Pakistan, while the country’s Planning Commission had estimated a figure of 800,000 jobs by 2030, Naya Pakistan Housing program, Karachi Nuclear Power Plant 2 (KANUPP 2), the Ten Billion Tree Tsunami Project is not only helping restore ailing ecosystems and improve natural capital; it is also supporting livelihoods. The project is expected to create jobs for almost 85,000 daily wagers. In addition, Pakistan’s protected areas initiative will create almost 7000 long-term jobs, Ravi Urban Project, and the construction of Dams are proven incredible projects.

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has the power of foresightedness thus he represented Pakistan internationally in a way that no one can represent. Recently, the 48th Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers was successfully held in Islamabad, Pakistan’s first-ever National Security Policy has been created, the Kashmir issue was discussed at the UN, Afghan Peace Process was carried out effectively and Imran Khan’s government took other initiatives for the stability of Pakistan include achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), GIS Mapping System, Civil Service Reforms and Accountability, Clean and Green Pakistan, UN Climate Action Goal 10 Years ahead of the deadline.

The former Prime Minister was a visionary leader and the policies made by his government are appreciable. Every sector had developed and benefitted the poor masses. It is proved that Pakistan has the potential to become independent and does not need to rely on international borrowings which in turn weakens the country both internally and externally.
