Former Chief Minister Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti has condemned India’s decision of revoking Article 370 from the ‘occupied’ Kashmir valley. Mufti, who was widely considered as a pro-India Kashmiri politician, while talking to BBC, said that ‘those who had participated in India’s democracy had been ‘pushed to the wall’.
Mufti also finally questioned the valley’s accession to India in 1947 saying, “we the people who had faith in the constitution of India have been proved wrong. We have been let down by the same nation we ceded to …. it seemed as though the state had made the “wrong choice” in aligning with India rather than Pakistan during partition in 1947’.
Mufti also hoped that all the stakeholders, political parties, religious parties and other parties in J&K would now fight together. ‘This constitutional relationship has been turned into an illegal occupation. So that is what we are going to be fighting about now’ she concluded.
It is now being reported that after her BBC interview, Mufti has been arrested by the Indian forces in Kashmir.
‘Family sources confirm that former CM Mehbooba Mufti has been arrested and taken away after her BBC interview!’ Adil Shahzed of HUM News revealed on Twitter.
Former Indian Finance Minister P. Chidambaram also called the decision a ‘constitutional monstrosity’, warning that history will prove this decision wrong.
