Android users are BETTER drivers but iPhone users are EMOTIONAL! Check out this interesting study

Your smartphone says a lot about you — your preferences, your mood, your attitude, and whole lots of stuff! Did you know it can also convey what kind of a driver are you? Yeah, no kidding! A new research now suggests that one can figure out the quality of your driving on the basis of what phone you use. As the headline suggests, it was found that Android smartphone users have come out superior here, beating those using iPhones as their smartphone. In fact, Android users have been shown to have almost everything superior over iPhone users when it is related to cars and vehicles.

A smartphone car insurance comparison site called Jerry conducted a test wherein the study analyzed the driving behavior of 20,000 participants. The data was collected after these people had driven 13 million kilometers over a period of 14 days. The test conditions seem rigorous but there is no information on whether the participants were from a same country or different ones. Nonetheless, some interesting data came out!

Study finds Android users to be BETTER

“Jerry analyzed data collected from 20,000 drivers during 13 million kilometres of driving over a 14-day period. The data generated an overall driving score as well as sub-scores for acceleration, speed, braking, turning, and distraction. Then we grouped the results by smartphone operating system and various demographic characteristics,” said the Jerry report.

The study found that when it comes to driving, Android users are more “open and honest” than iPhone users. The users are not drawn towards luxury like iPhone users, were more conscientious, and exhibited higher levels of honesty. They also feel little temptation to break the rules, says the report.

Things are not looking good for iPhone users here. The study says that iPhone users were less consistent and predictable in their behaviour. They are more emotional in approach, and were also found to check their phone more than Android users while driving.

However, there were reasons behind the surprising data. The study found that most of the iPhone users were younger than Android users. Hence, the age factor comes into play, wherein longer drivers are willing to take risks and be adventurous. Older drivers in comparison don’t want risk and hence, the preference of being safe is there.
