@Kamran Rizvi: Mental health is a severe condition and it is afflicting many around the world – not just in Pakistan. What we need is an empathetic society which is sincere and genuinely listens and does something about it. Because when you’re struggling, you need someone that you can confide in. And I have a feeling that friends come in handy at a time when you’re in the pits. If you speak to someone that listens without judging and who tries to feel your pain, and is not sympathizing but empathizing, there could be nothing better. And therapy is largely about getting people to express what they’re going through. It is when you bring it to the surface that you can do something about it. There are emotions that we go through – pain and trauma and so much else. It has to be expressed. If it is bottled up, it becomes toxic inside and really crowds the mind.
