The fifth-generation wireless technology for digital cellular networks (5G) started implementation in 2019. This will be useful for connecting a variety of new industries like manufacturing, retail, health care, and transportation.
United States and China are the two leading countries with the best 5G technology but China launched it first on 1st November 2019
US had earlier declared war on Chinese technology to put a stop to their telecommunication companies from 5G infrastructure throughout the world. The concern regarding a technology war was highlighted by Chairman of Google, Eric Schmidt, saying that Americans had put too much faith in the private sector giving China a chance to catch up
Huawei and ZTE may help Beijing with access to sensitive information through the use of 5G technology and this is something United States does not want to play with. To stop Chinese influence and to support US, the allies of U.S including Japan and Australia have banned Huawei and ZTE in their countries but others may not do it due to the heavy infrastructure already laid down especially in the United Kingdom.
It seems that if the Chinese become dominant in 5G technology, that would make the rest of the Asian countries a little nervous. A majority of people through out the world believe that United States will have the upper hand when it comes to 5G technology but it seems like China could take the lead.
