The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is an economic cooperation framework under China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Both countries formally signed multiple agreements during President Xi Jinping’s visit to Pakistan in early 2015. Under CPEC, China pledged investments worth billions of dollars in the energy and infrastructure sectors.
