Matrix Media, in a recent interview with Shandana Gulzar Khan asked her whether female MPs get enough space in parliamentary affairs? She responded by saying it is very important for women to have the same air time as men in the parliament to speak about the issues women face. She also said while it is important to have numbers it is equally important that they raise issues of women since they are national issues being 50% of the population.
Khan was elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan as a candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on a reserved seat for women from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2018 Pakistani general election.She was elected as the Chairperson of the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians, a network of women members of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association’s parliament and legislatures, for a three-year term in 2019.
She is a member of three Standing Committees of the National Assembly including the Standing Committee on Privatization, Planning, Development and Reform and Industries and Production.
