A Brussels-based fake news watchdog EU DisInfoLab recently launched a report entitled Indian Chronicles: deep dive into a 15-year operation targeting the EU and UN to serve Indian interests.
Major findings of the report suggested that the Indian campaign engaged in identity thefts such as stealing the name of Martin Schulz, former president of the European Parliament or the photo of James Purnell, a former UK Government minister. The campaign also had 750 or so media outlets across 119 countries, whereas 550+ domain names were also registered to support the campaign.
The EU report concluded that the primary aim of the Indian Chronicles’ is ‘to undermine Pakistan internationally’. This was done by laundering content produced by fake media to real media – and reaching millions in South-Asia & across the world.
MATRIX MAG got in touch with the British jurist Dr.Nazir Gilani for his views on the issue.
