In light of the current flood disaster, Engineer Arshad Abbasi, a water and energy expert, spoke with Matrix Media about the significance of building dams in Pakistan. He emphasized how the construction of additional reservoirs could store floodwater for productive use and lessen flooding in Pakistan, as well as how these dams would aid in storing and improving water regulation. He also highlighted the “Ten Billion Tree Tsunami Project” in Pakistan and stressed how forests act as a natural absorber of rainwater and allow it to seep because of the roots of trees rather than fall directly on the ground, hence such initiatives should be prioritized by the future governments.
