Drawing inspiration from Paulo Coehlo, the celebrated Brazilian writer, and philosopher, to thank President Joe Biden for discarding the Rule of Law regime as Israel goes about butchering and bombing Palestinians. No words are enough to express our gratitude to Biden and the US Congress for aiding Israel with funds and arms to destroy and displace millions of Gazans.
In March 2003, two weeks before the US invasion of Iraq, Coehlo had “thanked” President George W.Bush in advance for the assault under the pretext of Weapons of Mass Destruction. Coehlo thanked Bush for “dividing Europe and the Arab” world as well as for disregarding the voices of tens of millions from across the world against the impending invasion of Iraq. The famed novelist also called out Tony Blair, the British PM, and Jack Straw, the foreign secretary for duplicity and skewed justifications for the war on Iraq.
Today, the world should thank Biden and his friends for blurring the lines between lip service for the victims and active support for the killers.
Thanks goes to Biden and his major Western allies for treating Israelis as a “special gift of God” and the Palestinians as “children of a lesser god.” They deserve our respect for ignoring the demands for an end to the worst ever publicly known genocide.
In a rebuke to the ideals that led to the creation of the United Nations in 1945, President Biden and his allies have literally looked on as silent spectators as Israel continues to bomb one refugee shelter and hospital after the other.
Tens of millions of voices across the globe – from the US to South America to Asia – can be ignored for political expedience and for that we must thank the US Congress in general and the Republicans in particular for supporting the continuation of weapons transfers to Israel. Republicans insist on maintaining the arms supply chain despite President Biden’s threat to halt a shipment of U.S. offensive weapons to Israel — which he acknowledged have been used to kill civilians in Gaza — if it moves ahead with a long-planned ground invasion of the city of Rafah.
Hats off to Biden and allies in Europe for their cloak-and-dagger policy vis-a-vis hapless Gazans. The cloak for them and the dagger for the Israelis.
We commend them all for also keeping the leading Islamic countries as inactive as ever. Symbolic statements by the OIC notwithstanding, their trade and diplomacy with Israel and its ardent Western supporters continue.
Thanks, Mr.President for blowing the lid off the façade that you all had created all these decades; the fervent advocacy in support of democracy and the rule of law. We drew inspiration from this but – under your nose and with your active lethal support – Israel has torn this apart in killing over 35,000, mostly innocent, unarmed civilians including at least 15000 children. The carnage continues and for this, the entire West, led by Mr.Biden, deserves kudos for having sanctified and endorsed an unprecedented genocide. Geo-political exceptionalism at its worst.
