On 8th August 2022, South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Naledi Pandor, hosted US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who is on a three-nation Africa tour, for a South Africa-United States Strategic Dialogue.

During the dialogue, Pandor claimed in response to a question that South Africa has remained neutral on the conflict with Russia, she added that while it didn’t come from the US, South Africa had experienced pressure from some forces in the West to align with its policy on Ukraine. She also criticized the U.S. passed bill claiming that it is a punishment for African countries that did not conform to the Ukraine policy.
