In general, most polls put the USA ahead of China for decades in various polls. But now things are starting to look different across the global south and even in Western nations. From DPI polls – China has exceeded the USA for the first time.
76 out of 99 nations put China ahead of the USA for the first time over decades of surveys. This, to me, is shocking but perhaps no longer a surprise as China seems more the adult for the world, compared to the USA, with great help from Trump ruthlessly killing the image of the USA.

How do they see China’s Socialism with Chinese Characteristics? Actually, rather positive.
This shows confidence in China.
And how are the powerful nations ranked? No surprise, the USA is #1, but China is really closing up in 2025. A few surprises, for eg. Russia still takes #3, Japan at #4 seems high above the other big nations including the west. South Africa is a surprise to be above the last 4 big nations. India ranks lower than expected but above France.

I like to show below, as it’s a compilation of various polls comparing the USA and China. In general, the trend is still positive in that the indexes are likely similar today or improved. Why? Because China has been strategic, artful and patient with diplomacy and trade, masterful with BRICS and BRI, whilst the smear campaign by the US has generally fallen flat, and Trump’s terrible statemanship has really helped’ China.
Chinese history, culture and society are unique as well. They generally accept a govt as the authority and mandate to govern. Because they are genuinely proud of their civilisation and culture, they also accepts their govt as effective if they manage and run the nation well, and clearly they do, witnessing the improvements in their life. For what Xi has consistently done, he’s obviously highly popular with the people.
Favorability of the Govt –Â Throughout decades, there are polls showing above 80 to 90% of Chinese favor their govts, far more than all or most nations.
Let’s now look at some OLD DATA (western polls)
Overall, for observers of China, we are no longer surprised that China is truly rising domestically and internationally, in almost every aspect. Although polls may differ widely, with some still negative about China, I think the Global Times survey may just be about right.
Unipolar World has truly expired.
Well, even Rubio said the Unipolar World is an anomaly and over. He’s really not kidding.
