Pakistan partners with Bill and Melinda Gates

Bill and Melinda Gates foundation has teamed up with the Ehsaas initiative in Pakistan, by signing an MoU, at the end of September. Prime Minister Imran Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Miniter on Poverty Allleviation and Social Protection Dr. Sania Nishtar, Co-Chairman of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Bill Gates, and the President of Global Development for the foundation Chris Elias met bilaterally to discuss the Ehsaas initiative in Pakistan, and the vision of the initiative.

The Ehsaas initiative aims to alleviate poverty in Pakistan, and improving healthcare, schools, and reducing child mortality in the country. According to Prime Minister, Ehsaas is the biggest anti-poverty project ever established in Pakistan. This project has been founded by the federal government itself. The foundation works towards accelerating stunted programs, financial inclusion, investing in the public health systems, and the public education systems.

Both the organizations discussed reducing child mortality, and helping marginalized communities with better facilities to allow children to live above the age of five. Imran Khan’s vision is to end polio once and for all. Ehsaas has been developed to make a welfare state, working towards a goal of eradicating poverty, financial inclusion, routine immunization in children, mothers, and pregnant women.
