Despite introducing multiple administrative reforms in education, health , revenue departments and the justice system since 2013, the ruling PTI suffered a shock after losses in the recent local bodies’ elections. Taimur Jhagra, senior minister in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, admits the party failed in convincing the common man about the critical importance of these reforms and as a result has suffered loses in the local bodies election recently. Inflation, disagreements within the party over award of tickets, and tactics of conventional power politics were some of the contributory factors behind the electoral losses. But, Jhagra says the losses amount to a rude awakening for the party. Lessons have been learnt and the party will rebound in the next phase of elections with greater energy and resolve.
