Lab-made or Man-made……COVID-19 Revealed

Haroon Gul

Covid-19

The COVID-19 started to spread after it emerged from Wuhan, China but we have also seen how China has been recuperated in months after the virus caused heavy loss to the people globally. There has been a number of lives lost but the fact is that most people do recover from COVID-19. The reason that makes COVID-19 dangerous is that it it binds more tightly to a protein on human cells called ACE2 than SARS does and the tighter binding might allow SARS-cov-2 to infect cells easily. This is why COVID-19 is so contagious.

sars virus

A genetic study showed that the SARS-cov-2 is not a mixture of known viruses. After a new study by Kristian Anderson, an infectious disease researcher at Scripps Research Institute in L.A, California and his colleagues, they discovered the virus has come into existence by natural means and not in a laboratory. When the virus started to spread it thought that it came from infected animals or the seafood market but as of now, they think the virus must have jumped from an animal to a human once and then started to spread. Anderson also stated that if the virus was really human-made then the engineer would be working with known viruses to achieve the desired results. The SARS virus has components different from previous viruses so either it came from an unknown virus or it is a virus from the nature.

Dr Emma Hodcroft

Emma Hodcroft, a molecular epidemiologist at the University of Basel in Switzerland, says, “We see no evidence that the virus has been engineered or released on purpose.” She and her team are tracking small genetic changes in the virus at the moment. Since this could be another animal spillover but researchers are not yet sure what animal it was. This analysis may not stop the conspiracy theories but will now he be convinced and does not seem skeptical about it.
