Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association wholeheartedly welcomes the ceasefire announcement on LOC by India and Pakistan with a cautious optimism as a step forward in right direction for further dialogue to seek peaceful resolution of Kashmir dispute in accordance with the legitimate expectations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
In an extra ordinary meeting of the Exective committee of the JKHCBA presided over by the chairman Advocate Nazir Ahmad Ronga, pros and cons of the ceasefire announcent were discussed in the meeting and the announcent of cease fire on LOC by India and Pakistan was whole heartedly welcomed with a resolve to support the peace process initiated by india and pakistan .it was urged upon both the countries to de escalate the hostilties and give peace a chance in the subcontinent .Coardinated efforts should be undertaken by both the countries to push the process for larger objectives of durable peace and security , and sustainable economic development in the region.But the resolution of the kashmir issue is key to success of the peace process .therefore it is urged upon both the countries to initiate a substantive and sustainable dialogue process to address the Kashmir issue through peaceful means and seek solution to the kashmir issue according to the legitimate expectations of the people of jammu and kashmir.We the people of jk would like to be partners in the much desired peace process at all levels.
In the meeting international responses to the ceasefire announcement especially by the UN secretary General Antonny Goutresse and U S Administration were viewed encouraging and noteworthy.
