Certainly not!
15 years old Areeba Abdul Azeez -a young female- from Islamabad is playing football at the national as well as on International level.
Areeba has till now represented Pakistan in three International tournaments including Gothia Cup held in China in 2018- an event especially organized for girls under the age of sixteen.
Talking to media, Areeba said that she belongs to an economically challenged family. Her father is a fruit vendor as well works as part-time labourer to make ends meet and support his family. Looking back, she shared that there was a time when it was not even possible to buy a complete football kit, let alone affording some training sessions. And realizing how difficult it must have been for her to pursue her passion, we Pakistan’s must feel proud of her.
In 2012, Naseem Hameed sports academy inducted Areeba into their training program free of charge. Since then, she has been training with the academy on a regular basis. The academy has certainly helped her to realize her dream of becoming a “footballer”.
