Greta Thunberg – 2019’s Person of The Year

Greta Thunberg has just been named 2019’s “Person of the Year”, by TIME’s Magazine. The Swedish climate activist, at 16 years of age was a major addition to the climate activist family. Greta Thunberg joined protests against world leaders such as Donald Trump that choose not to do something about the climate change problem. She protested against the United States’ leaving the Paris Climate Accord.

Greta Thunberg joined the likes of Emmanuel Macron, Justin Trudeau and Imran Khan, when she gave her speech on Climate Change in the UN, General Assembly. She talked about her future and the future of the generations to come. According to her, “I shouldn’t be up here. I should be back in school on the other side of the ocean.” She followed with words that possibly shook the world by saying “How dare you? You have stolen my childhood with empty words”.

Greta Thunberg arrived at the COP25 Conference in Spain on a low-emission travel method through the Atlantic. Similarly, she travelled in electric cars and trains for 36 days during the conference.

Greta Thunberg was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for gathering students for weekly school strikes against climate change. She has previously been praised by people for her efforts to curb climate change.
