Former US senior officials admit intervention in foreign countries

Former White House National Security Advisor, John Bolton while talking to CNN’s Jake Tapper in an interview recently, admits that he was involved in planning coups in foreign countries. “As somebody who has helped plan coups d’etat — not here but, you know, other places — it takes a lot of work, and that’s not what he (President Donald Trump) did,”

This statement sparked a fire in countries that had been a victim of US intervention for decades.

The Russian Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson, Maria Zakharova, called for an international probe into Bolton’s remarks saying, “It’s critical to know in which other countries the US prepared coups”

The former president of Bolivia, Evo Morales was ousted from office in 2019, tweeted in response to the remarks claiming that the United States is “the worst enemy of democracy and life.”

In 2018, a similar statement was given by ex-CIA Director Woolsey about US meddling in elections in an interview with Laura Ingraham of Fox News:

Ingraham asked, “We don’t do that now, though? We don’t mess in other people’s elections, Jim?”

To which Woolsey hesitantly replied, “Well… (indescribable set of sounds) …only for a good cause, in the interests of democracy.”
