Nigar Nazar is an accomplished artist, story writer, and illustrator, who made it to BBC’s 100 global women who made a difference, in 2014. In this conversation with Matrix, Nigar shares her four decades long journey as the Muslim World’s first female cartoonist. She explains how she used art to advocate women and child rights in Pakistan along with promoting 21st century values like environmental conservation, education for all, health care awareness etc. She also highlighted the challenges and opportunities that the art sector brings for female artists, and pointed out the core reasons for women’s under representation in the art domain.
