On Tuesday, 7th June people in Pakistan witnessed long queues at the petrol station as people rushed to get their fuel tanks refilled amid rumors regarding another price hike.

This rumor sparked after Miftah Ismail’s statement while addressing the pre-budget seminar on Tuesday, the finance minister said, “petroleum prices will further go up in coming days”.

“As per the commitment given by former finance minister Shaukat Tarin to the IMF, per litre price of diesel should be Rs300 and that of petrol Rs270” the finance minister Ismail said.

Finance Minister Miftah Ismail took to Twitter to respond to the rumors:

Marriyum Aurangzeb, the Minister of Information, likewise dismissed rumours about an increase in the price of petroleum products as “completely false.” “The administration has not decided to raise the price of petrol and diesel any further.” Rumors are not to be believed by the public or the media. The country has no lack of petroleum products. “Refrain from spreading rumours,” she remarked on Twitter.
