Earlier this month, Apple launched the new iPhone 14 series with two innovative features: Crash Detection and SOS satellite emergency calls. Reports are now coming in that Samsung could bring the latter feature to his Galaxy phones as well.

According to PhoneArena officials, Samsung may team up with Elon Musk’s Starlink in the near future to bring potentially life-saving features to premium phones.

It is said that Apple was actually in talks with Starlink to strike a deal, but went with Globalstar.

The new iPhone uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X65 5G modem. However, the iPhone 14 takes just under 15 seconds to send the message to the emergency center via satellite. For that reason, the sky must be clear. If there are too many clouds, it may take several minutes for satellite lock to be established.

Apple plans to introduce the SOS Emergency Call feature via a software update in November, initially available only in the US and Canada. Plus, it’s free for two years, after which the company may charge for the service.

Today, Starlink, a subsidiary of SpaceX, provides satellite Internet services in approximately 40 nations on all seven continents of the world.

So far, neither Samsung nor Starlink have responded to reports about possible cooperation negotiations. We may have to wait until January as we speculate that Samsung will announce the new Galaxy S23 series.
