UN, US, China and Iran Wednesday solidarity and condemnation of the Jaffar Express hostage-taking.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guter strongly condemned the hijacking of a train in Pakistan’s Balochistan province and voiced concern about persons taken hostage, calling for their immediate release, a statement issued by his spokesman Stphane Dujarric said. Guterres is deeply concerned about the persons taken hostage and calls for their immediate release, the statement added.
The UN Chief stressed that attacks against civilians are unacceptable.
The Secretary-General strongly condemns the hijacking of a train in Pakistan’s Balochistan province,
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning told the media Wednesday:
We noted the reports and strongly condemn this terrorist attack. China firmly opposes terrorism in any form. We will continue to firmly support Pakistan in combating terrorism, maintaining solidarity and social stability, and protecting the safety of the people. China stands ready to strengthen counterterrorism and security cooperation with Pakistan and jointly keep the region peaceful, secure and stable.
U.S. Embassy Islamabad tweeted the terrorist attack:
“We strongly condemn the attack on the Jaffar Express train, and the hostage-taking of passengers in Kacchi, Balochistan, claimed by the Baloch Liberation Army, a U.S.-Specially Designated Global Terrorist group. We extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to the victims, their families, and all those affected by this horrific act. The Pakistani people deserve to live free from violence and fear. The United States will remain a steadfast partner of Pakistan in its efforts to ensure the safety and security of all its citizens. We stand in solidarity with Pakistan during this difficult time.”
A statement by the Iranian embassy in Islamabad said:
Iran categorically condemns the terrorist operations against train passengers in BL taking the innocent civilians, including children, women & elderly as hostage. Violent measures against civilians and disturbing vital transportation system is a cowardly crime against humanity.
