On August 20, 2025, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi traveled to Kabul to participate in the sixth China–Afghanistan–Pakistan Foreign Ministers’ Dialogue, meeting with Afghan Prime Minister Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani, and Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi.
During the official press briefing on August 21, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning emphasized China’s commitment to equality among nations, arguing that “all countries, even the small ones, have the right to thrive,” and stressing that the global order should not exacerbate inequality.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi reiterated that since the revival of this dialogue mechanism in 2022, the three parties have adhered to principles of mutual respect, equal-footed consultation, and mutual benefit, strengthening cooperation across politics, development, and security to safeguard regional peace and respond to evolving challenges.
China reaffirmed its readiness to deepen mutual trust, oppose external interference, and bolster security dialogue, law enforcement coordination, and joint efforts to eliminate transnational terrorism by tackling both its symptoms and root causes.
Furthermore, China pledged to support Afghanistan’s stabilization and reconstruction, encourage Afghan–Pakistani diplomatic normalization, expand development cooperation, enhance connectivity, and increase people-to-people exchanges, trade, and investment.
