Ice buried deep in the Antarctica can reveal the history of the Earth. To carry out the excavation and research, the Australian Antarctica Division has revealed a drill that will dig 3 km deep into the ice. The equipment is 500 tonnes heavy, and involves years of drilling, excavating and research. This research will hopefully lead to breakthroughs in climate change research.
