The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, or RSS, was founded in 1925 by Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar. However the group bears far more assertive mark of his successor, Madhav Sadashiv Golwalkar. While Hedgewar is referred to as “Doctorji” within the RSS, Golwalkar is known as “Guruji”.
Here in this piece of Guruji’s writing is a glimpse of his toxic heart and anti-minority sentiments:
“The non-Hindu people of Hindustan must either adopt Hindu culture and languages, must learn and respect and hold in reverence the Hindu religion, must entertain no idea but of those of glorification of the Hindu race and culture … in a word they must cease to be foreigners; or may stay in the country, wholly subordinated to the Hindu nation, claiming nothing, deserving no privileges, far less any preferential treatment—not even citizens’ rights.”
M. S. Golwalkar died on 5 June 1973 at age 67. But his virulent legacy lives on in the dark soul of Indian PM Modi and his Bharatya Janata Party (BJP). The results can now be seen all over India, especially when it comes to lynching of Dalits and Muslims. As PM Imran Khan rightly pointed out at the UNGA session, “Blood bath it is that I see”, unless Modi and his RSS-inspired ideology is stopped.
According to Britannica, the RSS has historically played a major role in the Hindu nationalist movement in India. Moreover, on several occasions the organisation has also been banned in India for its alleged role in communal violence. Some of the major political leaders of India’s ruling BJP were or still are members of the RSS.
