Ahead of his rare meeting with President Donald Trump, Prime Minister Imran Khan sent out some strong messages, including the one on Pakistan’s relations with China.
Addressing the jam-packed (with over 20,000 supporters) Capital One Arena, in Washington D.C., Khan promised to:
*Perform his function with dignity and national pride: I have never bowed down before anyone except Allah and Insha Allah will not let my nation down before anyone.
*Forcefully plead Pakistan’s case before the US President: I assure the nation to put case before him (Trump) and will not embarrass you
*Reiterate what he has been saying: I am proud that now the whole world is saying that Afghanistan has no military solution.
*Set the economy right through brute enforcement of accountability and meritocracy: There is a bit difficult time of four to six months or a year. We will get Pakistan out of it and make its self-dependent. Traders would have to pay taxes to make the country pay back the hefty loans.
*Another striking, unusually bold feature of the speech was undiluted praise for the Chinese leadership on the American soil: The communist party has put in place the best merit system in the country.
*Khan also defended the China Pakistan Economic Corridor like never before: We have signed contracts with China in CPEC and in other sectors, and I am confident it will bring development to Pakistan to a level where foreigners will want to come to work here.
PM Khan is expected to spend over two hours with President Trump tomorrow, according to the schedule released by the White House.
