ANF Recovers 2600kg of Opium at Karachi Port

ANF’s Port Control Unit (PCU) Karachi, based on a secret tip, conducted a major anti-narcotics operation at Karachi Port, seizing a massive quantity of opium hidden in a container containing dry fruits under Afghan Transit Trade.

The operation resulted in the recovery of 2600 kilograms of opium cleverly concealed in raisins.

The ANF’s PCU team profiled and intercepted the consignment of Afghan Red and Black Raisins at Badal Din Yard Karachi, based on profiling and secret information.

The cargo was cleared by Afghan Customs authorities in Kandahar and was meant to be sent to Canada via Chaman Border.

On April 19, 2025, the ANF PCU team thoroughly searched the consignment at South Asia Pakistan Terminal (SAPT) and recovered 2600 kilograms of opium.

The narcotics were skillfully mixed with raisins, making it nearly impossible to identify. A total of 260 cartons out of 1816 cartons were found to contain opium, with each carton containing approximately 10 kilograms of opium mixed with raisins.

The ANF team demonstrated high professionalism and skill in searching the cartons.

The shipment was booked by Sultan Mohammad Sultani, son of Noor Mohammad, resident of Kandahar, Afghanistan, for the import-export company in Canada. Preliminary investigations revealed the actual owner as an Afghan citizen residing in Kandahar, identified through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) with the Afghan government.

This successful operation reflects ANF’s professionalism and effective countermeasures against modern smuggling tactics.

A case has been registered against the accused, and further investigations have been initiated.
