A 2,000-square-metre mosque will be constructed in Bur Dubai. Around 600 worshipers will be welcomed in 2025.
It will take around four months to complete the 3d printing of the building’s structure and an additional twelve months to fully fit it out with the appropriate facilities. Three workers will operate a 3D robotic printer which has a capacity to print two square meters an hour.
A combination of raw materials and carefully prepared concrete will be used to build the mosque. This will reduce the construction material waste and ensure that the construction process is environmentally sustainable.
The choice to build the mosque using 3D printing technology is not surprising. Dubai’s ambition to become a leading center for technology by 2030 is ever increasing. The ‘Dubai 3D Printing Strategy’ was an initiative started in 2016 by His Highness HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to position the city as a major hub for technology.
