IPC is a good parliamentarians’ forum to keep Pakistan internationally relevant: Sitara AYAZ

Sitara Ayaz is a Pakistani politician and a member of the Senate of Pakistan, representing the Awami National Party.

She was elected to the Senate of Pakistan as a candidate of Awami National Party on a reserved seat for women in the 2015 Pakistani Senate election. Native Town: District SWABI, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Positions held: worked as Consultant (Development Sector) Head of APWA (KPK) from 2003 to 2008 Provincial Minister of KPK for Social Welfare and Women Empowerment 2008-2013. She is now the Chairperson of the Senate Standing Committee on Climate Change.

In this conversation with Matrix Media, Sitara Ayaz talks about the International Parliamentarian Congress (IPC), an organization where the individual parliamentarians are members from all over the world. International Parliamentarian Congress, started in 2019 – although a global organization but the headquarter of IPC is established in Pakistan.

The main purpose of this initiative as explained by Sitara Ayaz in this video is for individual parliamentarians to have a platform where they can come and share their views, share the good practices of their countries, and discuss the burning issues of the world, issues like education and climate change, etc.

Climate change is not the issue of Pakistan only, so in IPC the parliamentarians of all the countries can gather for some conferences, workshops, seminars, where they can come up with ideas regarding certain challenges, says Sitara Ayaz.
