The chart below offers interesting details as far as the “excess mortality” during the peak of COVID19 is concerned. This shows the “gap between the total number of people who died from any cause, and the historical average for the same place and time of year.”
We can see that the deadly virus caused a staggering 93 % deaths in the small but affluent Belgium while Sweden, a highly developed welfare state, recorded almost 90 percent COVID-19 related deaths. In Spain, corona took 67 % additional lives.
