The State of Affairs

A fairs A far is A fair is . . .
The state of affairs is some what of a large question
Which Affairs?
there's home love country spiritual international community
What do we dare speak of . . .
It's almost never Love, but for lust we've lost immunity
What of opportunity? Do we answer the door?
Do we hide below deck?

It's been a long couple of units of time
I gotto keep this flame going if the lights gonna get out
in the open hope-ing
                            your above ground smiling
sunshining rising
moonglowing setting
glowing
          Glowwing
on this ball of rock tumbling
balanced precious on its axis
rumbling
rolling toward a rather unknown destination
what is it you want? To know? I bet I could find it
at a library where the books smell old.

I'm sitting at the diner table when I came over
the secret scribbled on an old menu
in a shaky hand "Order Chaos"
Close your eyes wish it was summertime and you were a butterfly
The wind rises up and you flap to find the flow
but you create turbulence, you know, when you go
Air: that,
            the area
                        of your wings moves
