perform work that s/he has created.
* No props/costumes/musical instruments/pre-recorded music.
* Performances will be timed by a timekeeper.
* No performance will last longer than three minutes. The
time begins when the performance begins, which may be before a

second grace period. After the grace period, a penalty of 0.5
points for every 10 seconds will be deducted from the overall
score.

else (commonly called
"sampling") in his performance.
* A poem may be used only once during an evening. A total
of 6-9 performers will be allowed to register.
Registrations will be accepted first-come, first-served (except
for this first slam) on the night of the performance. Registration
will begin a half an hour prior to advertised performance time.
* Scoring will be "Olympic-style" on a scale
from 1-10
* Performers shall compete in three rounds, with the average
high score determining the winner.
* Judges will be selected from the audience. All efforts
shall be made to select 3-5 judges who will be fair.
